Paulina’s family hails from the Uruguayan city of Treinta y Tres. Paulina’s mom decided to try the family’s luck in Montevideo, hoping that the big city would provide the opportunity for a better future. Paulina thinks of her start at Forge as a turning point in her young life. “Five months after starting Forge, I was a new person. I had friends. I was able to move around the city without any problems…” Before long, Paulina felt the need to work to help out her family, who in spite of their financial troubles always encouraged her to stay in school and pursue her opportunity at Forge. Some time later, Paulina achieved her goal – she landed a quality job and at the end of her first work day, she raced home to tell her family about her first day of work in the big city.
