Luis recalls sitting on the Avellaneda Bridge for hours, watching the boats and the dockyard in action. He was awed by the cranes, as they lifted the heavy containers onto the boats and dreamed of one day operating one. It was no coincidence that he joined the Logistics course at the Forge Foundation. Throughout the program, he loved visiting companies’ warehouses and learning about the different trucks and machines that were used in their logistics. When he saw the forklifts whizz by he thought, “I want one of those.” Today, he can proudly say, “I work with one of those.” Luis currently works for Sodimac. It’s his first official job and for the first time he has a savings account. He lives in a rental apartment with his mom, in the neighborhood of Almagro.
